This guide outlines the features of the DelivApp system for configuring and managing weight variations for products such as meat, fish, and other items where the exact weight is difficult to determine in advance. This feature allows you to set acceptable weight deviations, ensuring price adjustments based on the actual weight of the product.
On the product editing page, the "By Weight" toggle is available. When activated, it allows you to set an acceptable weight deviation (in percentage). This is particularly useful for items sold by weight, such as meat, fish, and other products, where guaranteeing exact weight is not feasible.
If a restaurant chain configures its menu through a template, all weight-related parameters are automatically applied to all restaurants. However, each restaurant can adjust the "Weight Variance, %" parameter individually in its menu to meet its specific needs, providing maximum flexibility for product customization.
To use the weight-based product feature, you need to create a new product or edit an existing one, activate the toggle, and enter the acceptable weight deviation range in the field provided.
For example, the product "Ribeye Steak" has a weight variation of 15%, which means the manager can adjust the weight of the product within ±15% of 350 grams. Thus, the weight of the steak will range from 297 to 402 grams.
When an order for a weight-based product is received, the manager can accept the order and assign it to a courier. However, it is important to note that the courier will not be able to pick up and deliver the order to the customer until the manager enters the actual weight of the product into the system. This is necessary for the accurate calculation of the order cost and correct information display for all participants in the process:
In the example given, the target weight of the steak was 297-402 grams, and the manager entered an actual weight of 380 grams, which resulted in an appropriate price adjustment. If you enter a value outside the specified deviation range, the system will not allow you to proceed.
After the weight is corrected, the order can be processed further.
When the "By Weight" parameter is disabled but the "Unit Weight" field is filled in, the product is considered portioned with a fixed weight. In this case, the weight cannot be modified during checkout, and the product price remains constant regardless of possible weight variations. This is suitable for products with a fixed weight, where deviations are insignificant or absent.
